I have to confess, I haven't updated this post for almost 20 days since her birthday.
Her birthday, I gotta do something ground breaking, earth shaking... etc... but I'm flat broke. Great.
I spent the night before making her a handmade card. Yaya, lame lah... say what you may, but seriously custom making a card costs more than just pure effort. It cost me more than 2 Hallmark cards for the materials to make the card. Picture of the card? U gotta ask her for that. I fell asleep as soon as I was done. I had 3 hours to sleep.
Wake up early, got some things done and then go over to the nearby bakery. "Gimmie the smallest cake you got". I was fearing the lady was serious about my sense of humor and sell me a cupcake - but instead they actually have a semi-circle respectable cake enough to chuck 2 big candles on it with the words... happy birthday! Mission accomplished.
surprise 1&2 Light them candles up and surprise her at the door with the cake - sing song, hug, make wish, blow candles, hug kiss, and we're on our way. Got into the car, surprise number 2 my more-expensive-than-2-hallmark-cards handmade card is there waiting for her - she's now super happy.
surprise 3 Tenji for dinner. Tenji's a lot like Jogoya, but smaller. Food quality is similar. I feel that Jogoya has a better spread and more choices but their food comes slower. The food quality is okok in Tenji. But that's just my 2 cents worth. surprise half broken - she sort of guessed it and was looking forward for this but... oh c'mon :)
surprise 4 ongoing plans... to organise a nice karaoke session with HER friends for her. Fibbed about her best friend being away and could not attend etc. Then secretly planned her surprise. Told her we're going karaoke with MY friends and boy did she love her surprise. She loved it. I got loved for it. I'm happy, she's ecstatic. Mission Accomplised.
